You can now do your bit to help our country’s struggling wastewater system and at the same time make a garden feature unlike any other. You may have heard the term ‘slow the flow’. This refers to strategies that temporarily store rainwater to reduce the risk of flood. When flooding occurs this can lead to sewer water being released into our rivers and seas. To help prevent this we need to capture the rainwater then release it back into the system slowly.
How Does It Work?
In your domestic environment you can use this accessory on your Dipping Tank, which will still harvest rainwater as before, but now it’s slowly released into the downpipe. Thus, slowing the flow of water into the wastewater system. We’ve also repurposed the tank to include a planting area at the top. When the rain is heavy enough the tank will fill with water and soak this planting area. This area can be planted with drought tolerant plants or as a succulent bed, these plants don't mind being left dry for periods without rain.
Optional; instead of this rainwater going back into the downpipe you can choose to have it disperse into your garden via a soaking hose. Ideal if you can run this into a greenhouse or drier area of the garden.
If you still want to have a tank for dipping, as well as a slow-release watering system, you can easily attach a second tank.
