Product Description: This is a strand of Etched Carnelian Beads.
Note: As this is an antique item, it may have scratches, cracks, or chips.
Dating back to 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE, Etched Carnelian beads originate from the Indus Valley Civilization. These beads were created by drawing patterns with a natron solution derived from plants and then firing at low temperatures of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While these beads have been found at archaeological sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that they were made in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
